Nitro Type vs TypingGamesKids
Nitro Type's own homepage says it is the speed-builder, not the teacher: "While Typing.com teaches students how to type, Nitro Type's engaging, competitive format rapidly builds speed and accuracy." That is the right frame for this comparison.

Where Nitro Type Is Stronger
Nitro Type is the stronger choice for competitive typists who already know the keyboard. Its pages list:
- Real-time racing with teams, leagues and seasons.
- A free teacher portal with clever and classlink.
- Cars, cash and seasonal rewards that keep fast typists coming back.
Where TypingGamesKids Is Stronger
Starts before kids can type
Nitro Type races are made of full words and sentences. TypingGamesKids starts at single falling letters (Letter Rain, ages 4-6) and home row drills, so the youngest kids in the class have something to race in too.
Private races, one class at a time
A Class Race room exists only for the students who have its 6-digit code. There are no public lobbies, no friends lists and no chat of any kind, and nothing to switch off first.
Nothing to buy
Nitro Type has Gold membership and Nitro Cash packs. TypingGamesKids has no store, no currency and no ads, so there is no reason for a kid to ask a parent for a card.
Different games, not one
A Class Race can be held in any of the 34 games, from Dinosaur Typing to Zombie Survival, or in a timed typing test with a live track. Younger and older kids can race in games that fit them.
Which Should You Choose?
| If... | Choose |
|---|---|
| Your students already type 30+ WPM and want to race strangers | Nitro Type |
| You want teams, leagues and seasons | Nitro Type |
| Your class includes K-2 students | TypingGamesKids |
| You want a race only your class can join | TypingGamesKids (Class Race) |
| You want no ads and no in-game purchases | TypingGamesKids |
Using both
The two fit in order: learn the keys and race your own class here, then move to Nitro Type once a student types fast enough to enjoy racing the world.
A Note From the Founder
Nitro Type is the reason so many kids already know what a typing race is. When we built Class Race, the goal was a race that a whole class of different ages could play at once, starting from a 6-digit code on the board, with no public lobby.

How This Comparison Was Checked
Every fact about another site comes from that site's own pages (homepage, pricing, help center, privacy policy or terms), read on September 29, 2026. Review sites, search snippets and memory don't count. When a site's own pages disagree with each other, we say so or quote the specific page. When a site does not publish a price, we write "quote-based" and don't guess.
"Ads" means the free version shows advertising, either stated in the site's own policy or seen as ad scripts in its page code. "Account" means what a student needs before practicing. Prices and plans change, so check the source before you buy.
