Where TypeTastic Is Stronger
TypeTastic is the stronger choice for a complete game-based course across grade bands. Its pages list:
- A k-2 track built around young hands, including home row lessons.
- 700+ activities organized by grade band.
- A school edition that commits to the student privacy pledge.
Where TypingGamesKids Is Stronger
Teacher tools are free
TypeTastic's teacher dashboard, reports and typing tests are part of its paid School Edition. The TypingGamesKids teacher dashboard is free: Class Race hosting, race history, seat-number progress, practice assignments, CSV export and certificates.
No ads without signing up
TypeTastic's free activities show ads unless a teacher signs up. TypingGamesKids shows no ads to anyone, with or without a teacher account.
Live class races
We found no race or multiplayer feature on TypeTastic's pages. TypingGamesKids' Class Race lets a whole class race live in any game with a 6-digit code.
Leaderboards and badges per game
Every TypingGamesKids game has its own badges and leaderboard, so a kid can see what the next goal is in that game, not only in the course.
Which Should You Choose?
| If... | Choose |
|---|---|
| You want a sequenced K-12 keyboarding course made of games | TypeTastic |
| You also teach digital citizenship or computer science to K-5 | TypeTastic |
| You need class reports without a paid plan | TypingGamesKids |
| You want a live race for the whole class | TypingGamesKids |
| Parents want a site with no ads at home | TypingGamesKids |
Using both
Use TypeTastic's grade-band activities to teach the keys in order, then use a TypingGamesKids Class Race to check how the class is doing, with results and CSV export in the free dashboard.
A Note From the Founder
TypeTastic is built on the same idea as this site: young kids learn the keyboard best through games. The differences are in what is free. Our teacher dashboard and Class Race cost nothing, and there are no ads to remove.

How This Comparison Was Checked
Every fact about another site comes from that site's own pages (homepage, pricing, help center, privacy policy or terms), read on September 29, 2026. Review sites, search snippets and memory don't count. When a site's own pages disagree with each other, we say so or quote the specific page. When a site does not publish a price, we write "quote-based" and don't guess.
"Ads" means the free version shows advertising, either stated in the site's own policy or seen as ad scripts in its page code. "Account" means what a student needs before practicing. Prices and plans change, so check the source before you buy.
