What is Keyboard Jump?
Keyboard Jump is a free typing jump game where a word sits on every ledge above you. Type that word and your climber leaps up to it; miss a letter and the word resets, so accuracy matters more than mashing keys. Water rises from the bottom of the canyon the whole time and climbs faster the higher you get, so each ledge you clear buys you a little room. Words start at two or three letters near the ground and grow longer as you climb, which makes it a natural fit for kids ages 7-12 who already know where the letters are and now need to type whole words without looking down.

Why this grade range?
Keyboard Jump suits 2nd through 5th grade because it asks for whole words rather than single letters. By 2nd grade most kids can find the keys; the next step is typing a short word as one motion instead of hunting letter by letter, and a word-per-ledge rhythm teaches exactly that. The rising water adds pressure without punishing a slow start, and the word tiers grow with the climb, so a 7-year-old and an 11-year-old get different difficulty out of the same game. It pairs well with Word Bubbles for word practice and with Typing Race once kids want speed.

Pro Tips for Keyboard Jump
-
1
Read the whole word on the ledge before you start typing it. Starting on the wrong letter resets the word and the water keeps coming.
-
2
Keep your fingers on the home row between jumps. The half-second you save reaching back is what keeps you ahead of the water.
-
3
If the water catches you, it drops back down a little — you lose a heart, not the climb. Keep going instead of restarting.

Longer words higher up are worth the same as short ones, so steady typing beats rushing. Accuracy is shown live in the top bar.
